Parents’ Club

Working together for our community & beyond

Every parent in the school is a member of the St. Francis Solano Parents’ Club. The purpose of the organization is to bring about a closer relationship between the school, the home and the parish and to give all of us the spiritual and material support without which we could not function efficiently and effectively. Your active involvement in the fun fundraising activities of this organization will have its own reward, concurrently showing your child that you are vitally interested in him or her and the school.

The Officers and Members of the Parents’ Club for the 2021-2022 calendar year are:

President ……………………………………………… Courtney Kiser
Vice President………………………………………… Robyn Sebastiani
Treasurer ……………………………………………….. Jenni Hernandez
Room Parent Coordinator ……………………………. Amanda Conseicao
Co-Social Events Coordinator………………………… Whitney Stoner & Connie Sangiacomo
Hospitality …………………………………………… Amanda Bevan

In April of each year, a request for parents’ Club nominations is published in the newsletter.

Parents’ Club meetings are held monthly (usually the first Wednesday) at 8:15 AM in the schoolyard and all are welcome to attend.

Parents’ Club Events

The St. Francis Parents’ Club raises funds for both the students of the school and for people in need throughout the Sonoma community.  We also create fun events throughout the school year where we can come together as a school community.

Buddy Picnic

The Buddy Picnic is held during the week before school starts and is a great way for new families to meet other members of the school community.  We have a brief presentation to get everyone acquainted with the school, followed by a usually hilarious fashion show of uniform and free-dress “do’s and don’ts,” dinner on the lawn and cake. Everyone brings their own meal and snacks (pizza is a big hit) and the incoming students play and get to know each other.

Back to School Coffee

On the first day of school, after we have sent the kids off into their new classrooms, we get together for coffee and pastries in Father Roberts’ Hall. We have booths set up to help showcase various ways to volunteer, such as an Art Docent or Gala committee member, Dad’s Club member, or Hot Lunch volunteer. We also have a table set up to buy upper and lower division uniform sweatshirts and another to help explain volunteer hours at the Church Mouse.  It is a great way to get the scoop on St. Francis on the first day.

Charleston Wrap Fundraiser

An annual fundraiser sale that provides 40% of proceeds to St. Francis Solano School.

Jog-a-thon

The Jog-A-Thon is a fun, community building event, as well as a fundraising opportunity to support our school. Each student is encouraged to reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and community members to sponsor them with a flat donation (rather than a per lap pledge). With participation, every student will receive a Jog-A-Thon metal water bottle labeled with their first and last name. Perfect to take along to school each day to stay hydrated! Additionally, exciting fundraising prizes will be awarded to top raisers the following week.

Holiday Adopt-a-Family

We join forces as a school to take some pressure off of those in financial need and supply these families with holiday gifts and a delicious meal for Christmas night. We “adopt” up to 10 families and supply additional “needs bags” to those in need. We set up an Amazon wish list of each family’s specific needs and our community logs in to purchase items.  We then have a “Wrapping Party” to make the gifts extra special and share a bit of Christmas cheer with a holiday movie, treats and cookie decorating. This means a great deal to everyone involved and is a lovely way to deepen the understanding of the true meaning of the holiday season to our children.
