Vickie Swing

St. Francis Solano School students enjoy a vibrant spectrum of arts programs where every child can explore their natural talents and creative interests. Programs such as art docent instruction, upper division art and theatre electives, music curricula, yearbook and multiple media arts opportunities, including a student-published school newspaper, allow our students to confidently express themselves and enrich their whole academic experience.

 

About Ms. Swing, Music

Since 1998, Ms. Swing has taught music classes for Kindergarten through 6th grade, as well as 7th grade guitar and 8th grade Hand Bells at St. Francis. In addition to this, she organizes our Christmas Pageant, Spring Concert, the Recorder and Handbell Recital, and the music for each of our First Friday Masses, First Communion, First Reconciliation and Graduation. Ms. Swing has over 20 years of experience as a performer, conductor and vocalist in a wide array of venues. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from San Jose State University where she attended on a full vocal scholarship. She also has graduate course work in Church Music Administration. She is working towards Master Catechist certification.

Saint Francis students have an opportunity to learn hand bells, ukulele, folk dancing, precorder and recorder as well as participate in musical plays in addition to general music education.
