About Mrs. Perkins
Robin Perkins was born and raised in Sonoma Valley. She attended Saint Francis Solano School and is an alumni of Sonoma Valley High School. Robin began her collegiate studies at UC Davis studying Biological Sciences only to realize that she wanted to follow her true passion for teaching. Robin transferred into an Interdisciplinary Arts and Science program and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington. She moved home to Sonoma Valley and completed an ELA (English Learner) teaching credential at Sonoma State University.
With more than ten years experience teaching youth, Robin had the pleasure of teaching first grade at Saint Francis Solano school for seven years. She participated in a WCEA accreditation of Saint Francis Solano School in 2012. The following year she was honored to serve on a WCEA accreditation committee with principals and teachers all committed to serving and teaching our youth.
Robin now blends her science background and teaching abilities to serve as the seventh grade homeroom teacher and sixth, seventh and eighth grade science teacher. Robin is a member of the NSTA excited to teach earth sciences, life sciences and physical sciences.
When not in the classroom, Robin enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her daughters are in 8th and 11th grades in Sonoma Valley. When she has free time she loves to be outdoors walking, biking, and hiking.
Seventh Grade Curriculum
Seventh Grade Language Arts (with Mrs. Sawicki)
Seventh Grade Language Arts consists of four components: literature, writing, grammar and spelling. Seventh graders read, discuss and write about the following books: Where the Red Fern Grows, The Midwife’s Apprentice, A Wrinkle in Time, Farewell to Manzanar, The Outsiders and others if time allows.
Math (with Mrs. Stava)
Integers, rational numbers, expressions, equations/inequalities and graphing are the focus most of the year. Just like whole numbers, fractions and decimals are a building block for middle school math, these topics are a building block for Algebra 1. Geometry is also studied at depth in 7th grade so students will have a good base when they enter Geometry in high school.
Science (with Mrs. Perkins)
Life Science is the focus of 7th grade study which includes the structure of organisms, cellular structure, processes and reproduction to genetics, evolution, and the human body systems.
Social Studies (with Mrs. Sawicki)
We study the social, cultural, and technological changes that occurred in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America in the years 400 B.C. to A.D. 1789.
Religion (with Mrs. Picard & Mrs. Perkins)
The focus this year is ministry to others. We will beginning the topic of morality and how to live the Gospel values in our lives. 7th graders may prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Spanish (with Señor Ligotti)
Students continue to learn Spanish with focus on basic conversation, hobbies, school schedules, time, invitations, and food.
