Overview of Saint Francis Solano Catholic School
Saint
Francis Solano School is located 45 miles north of San Francisco in the
world renowned city of Sonoma. Sonoma Valley is fortunate to enjoy a
mild to warm climate most of the year and is steeped in rich
Spanish/Early Californian history. The last California Mission was
erected and still stands in Sonoma.
Since 1945, Saint Francis Solano School has proudly provided a strong, Catholic education for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. We are also proud to be the only Catholic Elementary School in the Sonoma Valley under the governance of the Diocese of Santa Rosa, located in Santa Rosa, California. Some private non-Catholic schools in Sonoma advertise teaching “in the Catholic tradition,” however, only Saint Francis Solano School in Sonoma is authentic and an approved Catholic school by the Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa.
The community of Saint Francis Solano School challenges students to embrace Roman Catholic values in an atmosphere of academic excellence.
During 1996, the Saint Francis Solano School main building was rebuilt and is now one of the most modern elementary school facilities in Sonoma Valley. Saint Francis Solano School offers a fully accredited curriculum and is proud to be endorsed by the Western Catholic Elementary Association (WCEA) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
We are committed to addressing all areas of education: spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social. As a Catholic school, we lead the students in opportunities to develop a relationship with God, the Catholic Church, and to appreciate our Catholic heritage. The faculty and staff project solid Christian values in the Catholic tradition. The entire student body regularly celebrates Mass and other paraliturgical services in the historic Saint Francis Solano Church.

St. Francis Solano School Earns Highest
WASC/WCEA
Accreditation Rating!
We are very proud to announce that St. Francis Solano School received a six-year accreditation rating!
The school community, which includes, administration, teachers and
staff, members of the Advisory Council and Parents' Club, spent the
last 18 months working diligently on this self-study process. As a
result of hundreds of hours of meetings and discussions, we identified
areas of strength (and we have many!) as well as areas of growth have
become our "Action Plan" for the next six years. The resulting document
was over 100 pages long.
As you may recall, in March, our WASC evaluation team made a three-day visit to our school and were very impressed with both the academic excellence of our school, and also the Catholicity of our school.
We thank everyone for their hard work; and especially the members of the Leadership Team: Lydia Blecksmith, Susan Smith, Debbie Picard, Veronica Beattie-Smith, and Michelle Momsen. As Father Mike would say, "Hip, Hip, Hurray!"
